Carmabi Education school programs & Marine Education Center together with the Curaçao Sea Aquarium Announces World Oceans Day – Curaçao 2017

Willemstad, Curaçao;  In celebration of World Oceans Day 2017, Carmabi Education school programs & Marine Education Center together with the Curacao Sea Aquarium is hosting World Oceans Day – Curaçao 2017 on June 8th, 2017, in the Dolphin Academy Auditorium from 08:00 – 17:00.   With the theme this year, “Our Oceans, Our Future,” our Island of Curaçao will be joining hundreds of Nations, organizations and millions of individuals from around the world who will recognize this special day for ocean awareness and action. World Oceans Day – Curaçao 2017 will focus on Sustainable Tourism.


World Oceans Day is officially recognized by the United Nations, and has become an annual celebration on 8 June as well as a call for ocean conservation action throughout the year. Promoted and coordinated by The Ocean Project since 2002, in partnership with a network of diverse organizations, the effort has expanded to over 100 countries. World Oceans Day brings together aquariums, zoos, museums, schools and universities, businesses, organizations and other groups, including divers, surfers, sailors, communities of faith, governments, the maritime industry and the tourism and recreational industry.


World Oceans Day – Curaçao 2017 is an opportunity to honor incredible achievements, recognize the global challenges moving forward and to deliver a sustainable message:  Our Oceans – Our Future… Get together with your family, friends, community, and the planet to start creating a better future. Working together, we can and will protect our shared ocean. We hope you will be a part of this growing global celebration!”

World Oceans Day is coordinated by The Ocean Project, which advances ocean conservation in partnership with its network of more than 2,000 aquariums, zoos, museums, youth organizations, and other education and conservation organizations around the world. In 2016, over 100 countries celebrated World Oceans Day and the effort expanded to engage more youth worldwide through the creation of a World Oceans Day Youth Advisory Council, which includes 11 young people (ages 14 - 22) from 11 countries across Asia, Australia/Oceania, Africa, Europe, North America, and the Caribbean.
