GO WEST Diving, Snorkeling and so much more!
GO WEST Diving guides you to the BEST sites on the WEST!
With 3 custom dive boats, their team gives you daily access to incredible sites that are hard to get to or impossible to reach from shore.
The West side known to locals as “Banda Abou” is a bucolic haven for boat and shore diving that offers near perfect conditions year-round. The natural shielding from the easterly trade winds, offered by the mountain range running through the middle of the Christoffel National Park, creates an ideal location and a hidden treasure in the Dutch Caribbean.
The most well-known dive site of western Curaçao is Mushroom Forest. This expansive area of coral flats is named for the striking mushroom shaped coral formations.
This is one of the top dive sites of Curacao and one that must be visited more than once. Most life is found around the 40ft/12m to 50ft/14m mark where gigantic mountainous star coral formations are still evident and attract giant moray eels, porcupine fish, barracuda and lobster.
The most northern dive site is Watamula. This site is only 5 minutes from GO WEST Diving and it offers spectacular healthy formations of hard corals, a soft coral-garden and a large variety of marine life.
Unlimited Shore Diving Adventures
In a sport where you often must charter a boat to see the best of the underwater world, Curacao is a unique shore diving haven for divers looking to take the advantage of a more leisurely schedule and explore Curacao.
Easy Shore Access
On the south side of the island, the fringing reef in most cases is within 60-feet (20m) from the shoreline which leads to incredible drop offs that allow divers to venture a little bit deeper into the aquatic wonderland. Of the seventy popular dive sites the island has available, over half of them are reachable from the shore, and nearly all these shore dive sites are clearly marked along the road way.
GO WEST Snorkeling Trips and Tours
Snorkeling along the reef terrace in 20′ of water reveals colonies of garden eels and nicely encrusted brain corals. But what makes this stop special is opportunity to explore the Blue Room.
The Blue Room is underwater cave or grotto accessible via an entrance cut by water into the shoreline’s limestone cliffs. The lighting inside the cave is captivating, bathing everything – including the snorkelers – in varying shades of blue. The view from the back of the cave to the cave entrance treats you to a spectacular illumination as the light bounces off and around your surroundings.
Before heading back out, take some time to enjoy the large schools of the shade loving Glassy Sweepers who are right at home in this still, clear water.
