Curaçao International Film Festival

The Curacao International Film Festival Rotterdam is an initiative born out of a blossoming friendship between the island’s local organization Fundashon Bon Intenshon and International Film Festival Rotterdam. This annual Curaçao festival takes place in the vibrant capital Willemstad.

Just like the city, the festival is colorful. These colors are created by CIFFR’s efforts to go beyond the borders of countries and cultures, introducing people to the world of film and stimulating artistic expression through this platform.

Where the island is small and bounded by water, it is everything but limited in its offer of high-quality independent and innovative films from all over the world.

Whether they’re documentaries, short films or feature lengths, there is an option for everyone. The festival respects every visitor, not only as a spectator, but also as an individual that carries their own story and background to the festival.

Curaçao International Film Festival Activities

Besides enriching the island with five days of films, it’s also a week where you can wander around and experience music, master classes, talks, exhibitions, meet directors, actors and attend other special events, such as Bario screenings, allowing you to explore film in various different ways.

FILM DAYS limited edition 21-23 April 2023

Fundashon Bon Intenshon is pleased to announce that on April 21, 22, and 23 2023, the Curaçao International Film Festival (CIFF) will organize FILM DAYS for the first time. A selection of 12 films will be screened in 4 theaters at The Movies Otrobanda.

After the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) terminated its already 10-year sponsorship contract with the Fundashon Bon Intenshon at the end of 2022, the latter concluded, after internal consultation, that another year without a Film Festival was not an option.

However, also considering the remaining months, it was impossible to organize a complete Film Festival with a full fringe program consisting of competitions, master classes, workshops and educational screenings. In order to build a bridge to a full festival in 2024 with a possible new partner(s), it was decided to organize the FILM DAYS. With this, the organization hopes to meet the wishes of the many film lovers on the island.
