Watamula in Westpunt, Curacao
Watamula is arguably the number 1 boat dive in Curacao and it is located in Westpunt next to Elvin’s Plane Wreck, one of the most famous airplane wrecks in Curaçao.
The North and South moorings of Watamula offer divers an intense and sometimes overwhelming spectacle. Whether you choose north or south, hard coral fields are sandwiched between a beautiful soft coral patch.
At Watamula, you will experience a mind blowing amount of hard and soft coral formations combined with an intense amount of the macro life. All of this plus Ocean Triggerfish, Schools of Chubbs and Porcupine Fish will leave you surfacing wanting more!!
The name Watmaula is derived from the Dutch word watermolen meaning water mill. The Northern area of the island is called Watamula, the part of the island that ‘breaths’ according to locals. Many beautiful cliffs, and even a water or sink hole can be found in this area.
Dive Tip: Check the currents because you will never understand what the currents will be doing until you check: sometimes they are flowing North/South, other times South/North and other times they are flowing in a circle!!

About Westpunt Curacao
